Elizabeth Ferrante was born and raised in Massachusetts but has made a home in the DMV. She first came to the area to attend George Washington University (GW), where she earned a B.A. in International Affairs. She considered leaving after graduation, but ultimately decided to stay when she discovered that growing a fig tree in her backyard was surprisingly easy. Some people need a reason to put down roots; Elizabeth just needed a little sunshine and a good growing season.

After graduation, Elizabeth entered the nonprofit sector, designing and administering food access programs across D.C. and Virginia. She especially enjoyed untangling the often-esoteric rules governing public benefits and grants and translating them into practical, well-run programs that helped address food insecurity throughout the DMV.

A few years and a pandemic later, Elizabeth returned to GW to study law, hoping to add a few more tools to her problem-solving toolkit. Today, she puts that toolkit to work using case law, statutes, and local rules to help resolve complex issues facing Virginians and their families.

When she’s not at the office, Elizabeth is likely gardening, reading, or sipping coffee on her porch while chatting with the bees. They’re excellent listeners, if not particularly helpful with legal research.
