Laura R. Kouremetis
Senior Attorney
Civil Litigation Team Lead
Having lived in different parts of the globe as a result of her parents’ U.S. government service, one thing that became painfully clear to Laura everywhere she lived is that there is a lot of unhappiness in this world. Unhappy people infect others with their unhappiness, who in turn inflict their pain on others. It is a horrible cycle. Laura sees it in the way people talk to each other, or about themselves. She sees it in the way attorneys argue in court. She sees it in the faces of their clients who sit beside them.
As an attorney, Laura has finally had the chance to do something about it. She now works to make a significant difference in peoples’ lives, whether that be restoring money or property that is owed to them, swiftly settling a dispute that was keeping them up at night, or giving them a voice when they feel voiceless. In every conversation with a client, in every strategy session and task, she tries to bring the client closer to their goal and to meet their specific needs. Indeed she lives fully according to the firm’s core values: integrity, professionalism, and excellence.
Since clerking for Hon. Robert J. Smith, Fairfax Circuit Court judge, she has seen time and again attorneys appear before the court unprepared and missing the important issues. To her, this was unacceptable. In her position, she poked holes in these attorney’s arguments and presented her research to the Judge, on what the law really says, and what the issues actually are.
As an attorney in private practice, she carries the same practice of thorough, diligent research for every client and every case. She accomplishes her clients’ goals by listening carefully to their unique, personal needs and then builds a strategy to meet these goals. Every single step of the way, the client has input. Every single step of the way, the client is fully informed of the facts, issues, and pros and cons of their decisions. Although legal disputes are never pleasant, Laura’s goal is to put them behind you in the best way possible, so that you may regain peace and joy in all that life has to offer.
